Ss Peter and Paul has an ongoing Master Plan for site development. Our community is always striving to ensure that the school stays a leading centre of education in Kiama.
We are continually developing the teaching facilities of the school with recent projects including our:
We are an innovative school with a culture that values and encourages the voice of students. We want our facilities to enable this ambition to be fulfilled. Therefore, the focus has been to build open, well-connected spaces that enable our students to continue to achieve and develop in the best contemporary learning environment. Our modern building also incorporates an elevator for disability access.
Take a virtual tour of Ss Peter and Paul to see some of our school's modern facilities, fantastic learning spaces and outdoor play areas.
In the Infants (K-2) school, the classrooms are grouped by year level. This allows the students to grow alongside others of a similar age. The Primary (3-6) school is grouped by stages of learning, reflective of the NESA syllabus structure, which continues to produce the best academic outcomes for students as they grow in independence. Read about our stage-based learning.
Our school boasts a modern hall where we host celebrations such as our renown school drama productions, assemblies and competition events. Ss Peter and Paul students also have access to a basketball court, separate infants and primary playing fields, and also are privileged to use the adjoining Coronation Park. Situated on the shores of Kiama's Surf Beach, students have access to the most amazing surrounding environment to grow and learn, with coastal running tracks, the beach, Kiama's Pavilion and Chittick Oval all right next to the school.

The design of the school has been very deliberate to ensure that while we have flexible arrangements, the students remain connected to the learning environment. The openness of the environment contributes to the feeling of welcome and collaboration that permeates our school culture.
The school provides learning spaces that meet the demands of learning and teaching in the 21st century. The students can experience explicit teaching, team teaching, multimedia delivery and independent learning within the flexible learning spaces. Students also have access to state-of-the-art technology, including K-2 iPads, MacBook laptops and iMac desktop computers. Senior students in Stage 3 engage in the 1:1 iPad program. Read more about our Learning Technologies.
The school has a modern library that forms the hub for the learning within the school. Our Innovation Studio is equipped with the absolute best resources, equipment and tools for students to engage in 21st century innovation, inclusive of robotics, electronics, coding, 3D printing and virtual reality. The school hall is utilised for assemblies, whole school productions and sport programs such as our gymnastics program.
The physical environment has natural shade and man made structures that provide for the learning in the outdoors. The school also has a beautiful Aboriginal garden space. Designated learning spaces are provided for the teaching of Music and Art.
"The pace of change, supercharged by new and emerging technologies, has never been so great, nor so disruptive" — Australian Innovation Agenda
Established in 2017, the Innovation Studio at Ss Peter and Paul is a 21st century learning space that empowers all students to face the challenges of the future through experiences inclusive of design, engineering and technology.
Most importantly, the Innovation Studio aims to develop students ability to be agents of change within the future workforce. Students access the studio with their class as part of their core learning, and can access the space at lunchtime to engage in weekly themed projects that encourage innovative thinking.
In going beyond and giving students the best opportunities to unleash their innovative thinking within and after school, the Innovation Studio is home to our amazing VEX Robotics Program and Rocket Engineering Challenge teams.
The Innovation Studio offers state-of-the-art technology and and learning resources including:
Innovation goes beyond simply making and creating. The Innovation Studio goes beyond being a maker space for creation, but rather promotes students to:
In the face of economic challenges and a digital revolution that’s reshaping business and the workforce, Ss Peter and Paul is giving our students the best opportunities to engage with the kind of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning that will enable them to participate in an innovative, productive and sustainable economy.
Ss Peter and Paul's library, located in the centre of the school, serves to inspire and encourage a lifelong love of 21st century literacy while supporting the school’s learning programs and extra-curricular activities.
Students can read and borrow at lunchtimes, and formally borrow once per week with their class. Library resources include printed books, electronic books borrowed via OverDrive, magazines, and games. We encourage students to read for pleasure utilising an array of popular magazines, fiction, picture books, and graphic novels. The non-fiction collection and online database resources accessed through our Oliver online system provide students and teachers with materials that have been carefully selected to support the curriculum and encourage self-directed learning.
Students also learn to develop online research skills via Mac computers and iPads in the library.
Our specialist library staff engage students in quality literacy instruction using a rich variety of texts and media. They empower students' learning by further developing their information and digital technology skills, as well as facilitating exciting literacy whole school initiatives including The Premier's Reading Challenge and Book Week.
Scholastic Book Club
Twice each term, we send home brochures from Scholastic Australia. Participation is optional but it can be an easy way to add books to your own shelves at home. If you have any enquiries about orders or would like to discuss your choices, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Created in 2018, our sustainable vegetable garden teaches students about sustainability, agriculture and how they can act as stewards of creation, responding to Pope Francis' encyclical, 'Laudato Si'.
The garden enables students to learn about gardening and how to care and grow fresh produce. Students are involved in this process from seed to harvest. All classes take responsibility for caring for the garden, with specific duties on a roster.
The garden also provides a fantastic outdoor learning setting for lessons about sustainability and other environmental topics, with classes from Kindergarten to Year 6 using the space as an outdoor classroom.
We are fortunate at Ss Peter and Paul to be surrounded by a range of wonderful, open sporting and play facilities for our students to enjoy. To view some of these areas and facilities, have a look at our Virtual Tour of the school.
